The Board of Directors of Britam Holdings PLC has named Hilda Njeru as the Director for Legal and Group Company Secretary.
Her appointment which takes place immediately comes after Britam carried out a competitive selection process.
Hilda is a financial services executive with experience spanning over 16 years in regulatory affairs and corporate governance leadership.
Before joining Britam in September 2022, she was the Company Secretary and General Manager in charge of Legal, Risk and Compliance at the Central Depository & Settlement Corporation Limited (CDSC).
She has also worked with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) where she gained expertise in capital markets matters.
Hilda was involved extensively in the implementation of the 2014-2023 Capital Markets Master Plan and has been recognized for her input in the implementation of the CMMP.
Hilda was also a member of the Arusha-based EAC Capital Markets, Insurance and Pensions Committee (CMIPC) Technical Working Group that drafted the legal framework for the standardization of practices in the financial services sectors of the EAC Member States.

She has also worked for Barclays Bank of Kenya (now Absa Bank) between 2007 and 2012.
Hilda holds an MSc in International Business Administration from the University of London as well as a Master of Laws, LL.M, and a Bachelor of Laws degree, LL.B from the University of Nairobi.
She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a certified public accountant, a CPA (K), a certified secretary, a CPS (K), and an accredited Governance Auditor.
Moreover, Hilda is a Rotarian and a member of the Women on Boards Network.
