Prices of fuel will remain unchanged for the period August 15 to September 14 after the government has reintroduced subsidies on the commodity.
According to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) monthly update, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol, diesel and kerosene will remain unchanged.
Super petrol, diesel and kerosene will continue retailing at Ksh194.68, Ksh179.67 and Ksh169.48 per litre respectively.
As a result of the increase in fuel landed cost, the state has opted to introduce subsidies to cushion Kenyans from a surge in the fuel prices for the August-September 2023 pricing cycle.
Oil marketers will be compensated Ksh7.33, Ksh3.59 and Ksh5.74 for super, diesel and kerosene respectively from the Petroleum Development Fund (PDF).
In July, prices of super, diesel and kerosene surged on the back of doubling of the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel to 16 per cent in accordance with the Finance Act 2023.
This made Kenyans to feel more pain at the pump amid a biting cost of living.
