Ride-hailing platform Uber has expanded its food delivery services via UberEats to Kisumu city, marking its entry into the western Kenya market.
This makes Kisumu the sixth town in the country where UberEats has established its presence in the country, joining others like Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Nakuru and Naivasha.
The move is set to provide residents of Kisumu with a convenient and efficient way to order food from their favorite restaurants and eateries, with the tap of a button.
By expanding to the lakeside city of Kisumu, UberEats aims to cater to the growing appetite for food delivery services in the region.
“Our expansion into Kisumu is a key moment for us as we bring our unique offering of on-demand commerce, selection and affordable offering to the residents of Kisumu. Through Uber Eats, we seek to enhance the overall delivery experience and contribute to the local economy by supporting restaurants and retailers in Kisumu,” said Uber Eats General Manager Kui Wangui.
Uber Eats hosts a number of fast food restaurants on its platform including Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Galito’s, Artcaffe, Domino’s Pizza and Chicken Inn among others.
It allows customers to make orders from the restaurants available on the platform and have the meals delivered to them, either at their homes or offices.
This expansion comes at a time when the demand for food delivery services has been on the rise, driven by factors such as the convenience of ordering food online.
Since its launch in Kenya, UberEats has partnered with a wide range of restaurants and food vendors, offering customers a diverse selection of cuisines to choose from.
