The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has slashed the prices of fuel commodities in its latest review.
This is a reprieve for Kenyans who have been struggling with the high cost of the commodity amid a surge in the cost of living in the country and biting inflation.
For the March-April review cycles, pump prices will drop below Ksh200 for petrol, diesel and kerosene.
The prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene at midnight will be down Ksh7.21, Ksh5.09 and Ksh4.49 respectively.
As a result, the commodities will retail at Ksh199.15, Ksh.190.30 and Ksh188.74 for petrol diesel and kerosene respectively in the capital city, Nairobi.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for the excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No.194 of 2020,” stated the energy sector regulator.
In the lakeside city of Kisumu, a litre of petrol, diesel and kerosene starting midnight will retail at Ksh. 198.97, Ksh190.59 and Ksh188.96 respectively while a litre of petrol will go for Ksh195.97 in Mombasa, diesel and petrol at Ksh187.21 and Ksh185.58 respectively at the coastal city.
