The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has slashed the prices of super petrol, diesel and kerosene by Ksh1.
In the February-March review cycle, a litre of super petrol in Nairobi will cost Ksh206.36 from Ksh207.36.
Similarly, a litre of diesel and kerosene will retail at Ksh195.47 and Ksh193.23 from Ksh196.47 and Ksh193.23 respectively.
“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene decreased by KShs 1.00 per liter, respectively,” stated the energy sector regulator.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” added EPRA.
“The price of diesel has been cross-subsidized with that of super-petrol, while kerosene has been fully stabilized.”
This follows a 1.71 per cent drop in landed cost of imported super petrol to US$666.16 per cubic metre in January 2024 from US$677.78 per cubic metre in December 2023.
On the other hand, landed cost of imported diesel and kerosene dropped 3.08 per cent and 1.17 per cent to US$728.03 per cubic metre and US$718.51 per cubic metre respectively.
In the January-February review cycle, the prices of Super Petrol, diesel and kerosene will drop by Ksh5, Ksh5 and Ksh4.82 respectively.
