Budget carrier airline Jambojet has marked its tenth anniversary today since it began operations in the country.
As a result, Jambojet rewarded customers with 1000 tickets going for Ksh10 one-way for domestic flights between 8th April 2024 and 26th April 2024.
Jambojet’s website witnessed massive traffic on its website resulting in a crash, making users unable to get the offer.
“You have overwhelmed our website hunting down #JambojetAt10 10 Bob tickets. Please stand by as we get the site up and running again! Keep refreshing our site,” stated Jambojet.
According to the airline, it witnessed an average of 3,500 requests and the traffic surged to a peak of 79,000 requests.
“Our site is back. Grab your 10 bob ticket before they’re all gone!” stated Jambojet minutes later after witnessing the unavailability of the service on its official website and App.
The low-cost airline has flown over 3.5 billion kilometres from 2014 to 2024.
In the ten years, some 7,086,761 passengers flew Jambojet to different destinations in the country.
4,386,865 flew from Nairobi to the coastal city of Mombasa during the decade.
“Jambojet has been a thread weaving a tapestry rich with stories both grand and intimate, each flight carrying the desire for more opportunities, unforgettable moments, and life-changing first experiences, connecting us deeply to the very things that drive us to dream. Without a doubt, every takeoff has been more than a journey,” stated Jambojet on its website.
From its hub at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the low-cost carrier serves seven locations including Goma in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda (Diani) and Lamu.
In addition, the airline runs three direct flights from Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret.
Starting July 2024, Jambojet will have four weekly flights from Mombasa to Zanzibar to bolster tourism and trade between the two destinations.
“Since its inception, Jambojet has been focusing on connecting people in the under-served or unserved routes. Our decision to launch the Mombasa – Zanzibar route is poised to strengthen relations between the two countries,” said Jambojet Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) Karanja Ndegwa.
