Telcom giant Safaricom has stopped mobile money transfer to users who have not registered their sim cards to mobile money services.
The move which took effect February 5 2023 will see those not registered on the various service providers’ mobile money unable to send or receive money from M-Pesa.
The move not only affects those using M-Pesa but also those using Airtel money and T-Kash who have not registered their sim cards to mobile money.
“As a registered mobile money customer, you will be able to send and receive money across different mobile
money providers such as Airtel and T-Kash,” stated Safaricom PLC in a notice.
“We encourage customers who are not registered for mobile money services to register by visiting a Safaricom Shop or M-PESA Agent with their Identity Document,” added the Telcom firm.
