Konza Technopolis Appoints Insider As CEO

Okwiri takes over from John Tanui who left after being appointed as the Principal Secretary (PS) Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy.

Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has announced the appointment of John Paul Okwiri as the agency’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He has served as the agency’s CEO in an interim position for the past 10 months.

He takes over from John Tanui who left after being appointed as the Principal Secretary (PS) Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy.

With a passion for steering transformative change, Okwiri is tasked with providing strategic leadership to Konza Technopolis to enable it to achieve its vision as a leading global Technopolis and innovation hub.

He boasts a stellar performance in delivering large-scale strategic infrastructure and innovation projects leveraging diverse resourcing models.

While working at Konza Technopolis, Okwiri played a crucial role in delivering large-scale projects including the successful delivery of Konza Phase 1 Horizontal Infrastructure and the establishment of Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology.

Moreover, he was instrumental in mobilizing resources to construct a tier 3 National Data Center, transforming Kenya’s cloud infrastructure and Data Center services in addition to securing the 41st International Association of Science Parks (IAPS) 2024 Conference for Konza Technopolis.

Okwiri holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Procurement & Supply Chain Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

He is a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS-UK) and the Kenya Institute of Supplies & Management (KISM).

In addition, he is a certified Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) expert.
