On 30th August 2021, the Daily Nation published a story headlined; Police warn about anarchy ahead of 2022 elections, which was misleading when compared to the content of the story.

The story was about the challenges police officers face when dealing with violent protesters and its implications ahead of the 2022 general elections.

“In one week alone this month, 16 officers were arrested for stealing, killing and extorting.

As their cases are prosecuted, the Nation sought to find out how their colleagues feel about this widening rift between the police and the public ahead of the General Election in August next year.”

The article did not contain specific warnings of anarchy ahead of the 2022 elections. The word anarchy has a similar meaning to lawlessness, riot, chaos among others.

This headline is therefore flagged as misleading.
